LA TEJERA WOMEN’S CLINIC PAVILLION – PERQUIN, EL SALVADOR

In 2007, Tyler Kobick of DDB, organized, facilitated and built with an incredible group of partnered organizations including Jetblue and MIT’s architecture and planning schools, multiple structures to serve the La Tejera Women’s Maternity Clinic.  Students design-built the structures in less than 10 days from dawn until dark.

Experiments in locally milled wood and bamboo construction became expressive elements allowing for rain and shade proof space for the women from local villages who often spent the last month of their pregnancy at the adjacent army corp of engineers structure.
